Beverly Austin is a Certified Trichologist and the founder of Healthy Ebony Hair (HEH), specializing in treating scalp disorders, thinning, and hair loss. Beverly's journey into this profession began with her own struggles with hair loss and scarring alopecia.
Beverly always had thick, naturally curly hair, but by 2009, her hair began shedding profusely. After countless attempts to solve the problem—trying various treatments and products—she realized that there were few solutions specifically designed for the unique hair thinning and loss issues faced by African American women. The common options were covering up with sew-in weaves, braids, or wigs, but these methods, if applied incorrectly, could further damage the hair and scalp.

Recent research by the National Library of Medicine (NIH) also highlights another concern: the exposure of Black women to toxins in popular synthetic extensions. For instance, modacrylic fiber, such as Kanekalon, is often used in synthetic braiding extensions and is praised for its resemblance to Afro-textured hair and resistance to unraveling. However, continuous exposure to large amounts of these fibers, which is common with many braiding techniques, may pose health risks over time.

Inspired by her own transformation...
​It became clear to Beverly that better solutions were needed. After years of research, she finally found a Trichologist who helped stop her hair thinning and loss. The results were extraordinary—after just one session, her hair stopped shedding, and she had no more abnormal shedding afterward. The Trichologist used products and scalp treatments specifically designed to stop hair loss, supported by science. Over time, Beverly’s natural hair grew back in the areas that weren’t scarred, becoming soft, thick, strong, and deeply hydrated.

Beverly has over 30 years of experience first in using and formulating her own
herbal products for hair, skin, and body using herbs and natural and organic
essential oils. Beverly’s hands dance across mortar and pestle, blending
ancient wisdom with modern science. She weaves together botanical
treasures—herbs, oils, and essences—into elixirs that whispered to
the skin, breathed life into hair, and rejuvenated weary souls.
Her formulations were more than products; they were love letters to well-being.

In 2011, Beverly and her husband, Joe, opened Herbs for Food, an Online herb and supplement store. Today, the legacy lives on through Healthy Ebony Hair or HEH, and stands as a testament to Beverly’s vision. HEH also stands for Health, Energy, and Harmony—Within HEH, over 800 natural solutions thrive. From digestive aids to immune boosters, from heart health to sports vitality, each product bears the imprint of her wisdom. Beverly’s beliefs, like roots, anchor her. She whispers gratitude to God Almighty, for in her journey, she found purpose.
